Welcome to rightANGLE

rightANGLE is an award-winning weekly public-access TV talk show originating in Ithaca, New York. It was created by a group of local Republicans six years ago as a counterweight to the liberal culture and media that prevail in our area. A small college town, home to Cornell University and Ithaca College, Ithaca is a true liberal haven. Mark on RightAngleIn recent years it has elected a socialist as mayor, been named America's 'Most Enlightened' [read: liberal] town by the Utne Reader, and has a school district that has graded elementary school kids on their respect for diversity.

In 2006, rightANGLE was named 'Best of the Best' among all Time Warner public access shows in our area.

rightANGLE is an alternative, conservative voice in a liberal sea.

What You'll Find on rightANGLE

rightANGLE offers entertaining, provocative talk on virtually everything under the sun. Episodes often take on the leading national and international news and political events of the week. Other shows might be devoted to a single issue of importance, as in a show last year that debated abortion with the head of a local pro-life emergency pregnancy center taking on the local Planned Parenthood chief. Even viewers from outside the area might be amused by the intensity with which local issues are addressed, as in a show from this summer on the issue of a city proposal to relax dog leash laws. Once in a while, we'll devote a show to apolitical subjects, on anything from skiing, to exercise [with an actual workout segment live on stage] to . . . parrots – with four large, exotic birds joining us.

Best of the Best AwardGuests range from elected officials – including a recent Libertarian Party presidential candidate, congressmen, state officials, mayors, etc. – to leading national authors, academics from our local colleges, student activists, religious leaders and occasionally just the engaged – or outraged – local citizen.

While rightANGLE makes no bones about its conservative political orientation, we often have guests with very opposing views. War protestors, tax resisters, tree huggers, conspiracy theorists and open-border advocates - to mention a few - have all found their way onto our set. We pride ourselves as being a forum for the energetic-but-civil discussion of the issues.

rightANGLE airs live on Time Warner cable channel 13 in Tompkins County at 8 PM on Thursday evenings, and is rebroadcast Friday at 5 PM and Tuesday at 4 PM. The webcast version of the show will be available here under Archived Shows by Monday of the following week.
